The workplace is forever changed.

Now our benefits must follow.

A whopping 56% of the workforce believe their organization’s benefit offerings fall short. Especially when it comes to supporting new work-life preferences and accommodating their new workplace reality.

And, as each organization’s hybrid model takes shape, this benefits mismatch will be thrown into sharp relief. Why? Because working from both home and back in offices means employee preferences will continue to evolve.

Monthly → Weekly → Daily.

This is what we are now. This is who we are now! An empowered workforce with a daily choice. Hoteling, hot-spotting, and seeking a more holistic work-life experience.

But what, exactly, does a benefits refresh look like for our newly minted hybrid workforce? And how can organizations be benefit agile in the face of changing employee needs?

The wide-ranging and quickly-evolving preferences of our people must be met with a benefits lineup that is both fluid and flexible. What works one day, for one group of people, may change overnight.

Traditional Commuter Benefits:

  • Monthly parking permits
  • First come, first serve parking
  • Fixed transit subsidy
  • One-size-fits-all fixed policy

Updated Mobility Benefits:

  • Daily parking charges
  • Daily parking reservations
  • Flexible subsidies across modes
  • Eligibility-based dynamic policy

Invest in mobility benefits

Traditional commuter benefits (think pre-tax transit OR parking) will no longer cut it. Large employers need enterprise mobility benefits to better enable their hybrid workforce.

Mobility benefits are the natural evolution and intentional expansion of commuter benefits. Whereas traditional pretax commuter benefits are often rigid, binary, cost-negligible, and blind to infrastructure—mobility benefits are flexible, inclusive, equitable, accessible, agnostic, cost-effective, and infrastructure-aligned.

  • Mobility benefits are people-first. They serve employees more holistically, equitably, cost-effectively, and provide greater accessibility.

  • Mobility benefits are ecologically sound. They seek to bring greater balance into the environments within which they are deployed.

  • Mobility benefits are sustainable. These are modes like: biking walking, rideshare, carpool,  vanpool, public transit, telework, and shuttles.

“It’s one thing to believe something as a matter of policy. It’s another to live it and see how much of a difference it could make.”
